Who We Are

An island festival with a global aura.

The Aegina Music Festival was founded in 2005 and since then it has become a reference point on the cultural map of the country. It takes place every August on the island of Aegina, creating a lively institution that brings together great musicians with a philanthropic audience from Greece and abroad.

In its 20 years of existence, the Festival has presented more than 150 concerts with the participation of 570 musicians. It has developed into an open, welcoming and stable cultural nucleus, with a carefully curated programme that includes chamber music, recitals, singing, jazz and tributes to great composers.

The concerts take place in venues:

  • in the courtyard of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Saviour
  • on the beach of Aura, next to the archaeological site of Kolona
  • and in the stone Small Theatre "I. Molfesi" in Pachiorachi

Under the artistic direction of Dora Bakopoulou and Elena Hounta, the Festival remains committed to its goal: the continuous artistic renewal, the strengthening of the cultural identity of the island and the creation of a field of essential contact with music, with quality as the central axis.

In order to be accessible to as many people as possible, the Festival offers free admission to unemployed, disabled and students, while each concert is accompanied by a short introduction to the works presented.

The organization is undertaken by Mission Art AMKE, with Poppy Malapanis in production.
