Steady on his summer date, the Aegina International Music Festival returns this year celebrating 20 years of life - two decades full of music, dialogues, meetings, moments on an island that knows how to listen and enjoy. Since 2005, Aegina has evolved into a meeting place for great artists and philanthropic audiences.
By 19 events to his credit, more than 150 concerts with the participation of 570 musicians and one community which consistently fills the tents with almost 100%, the Festival has become a stable institution on the cultural map of the country - and a favourite summer habit.
This year, from 2 to 24 August, the Festival will return to three unique spots in Aegina:
- the courtyard of the Church "Tama of the Greeks",
- the beach of Aura, in the shadow of the archaeological site of Kolona,
- and in the stone Theatre of Pachyorachi, where silence meets melodies.
The programme includes:
Chamber music concerts with important Greek and international soloists,
Evenings of singing and musicals,
A tribute to Maurice Ravel,
And a big surprise concert for the finale.
The detailed programme will be announced in July.
The Festival remains open and welcoming: with free entrance for unemployed, disabled and students and with short explanations of the projects before each concert - so that everyone has the opportunity to get a glimpse of unseen aspects of the compositions included in each evening's programme.
Organized by the Mission Art AMKE, under the Artistic Direction by Dora Bakopoulou and Elena Hounta.
